Goalie Instructor: Stephane Waite

Stephane Waite is currently in his sixth season with the Chicago Blackhawks as the club's goaltending coach after joining the team during the 2003-04 campaign on a part-time basis.
A native of Sherbrooke, Quebec, Waite has over 25 years of experience as a goaltending coach and consultant. At an early age, he knew he wanted to teach and coach the art of goaltending. With that one goal in mind, Stephane has honed his skills while playing or coaching at every level of hockey. Prior to joining the Blackhawks, he served as Sherwood Hockey's pro goaltender representative (2001-04) and was also a goaltending consultant for IMG Hockey (2000-04).
Waite has served as a goaltending coach for several minor and junior teams throughout his career, including: Lewiston Maineiacs, QMJHL (2003-04); Magog Cantonniers, Midget AA (1997-04); Sherbrooke Castors, QMJHL (1998-03); Coaticook Frontaliers, Junior AAA (1997-01); Team Quebec, World Championship Under-17 (1990, 2000-01); Le Triolet High School (1998-01); Head Coach of Waterloo 94's (semi pro); Sherbrooke Faucons, QMJHL (1993-96); Saint-Jean Lynx, QMJHL (1990-91); Saint-Jean Castors, QMJHL (1987-89); Trois-Rivieres Draveurs, QMHJL (1986-87); Shawinigan Cataractes, QMHJL (1985-86); Cantonniers De L'Est, Midget AAA (1983-89); Quebec Hockey Federation (1985-86); and Sherbrooke Inter City (1981-83).
He has coached many current and past NHL goalies including Nikolai Khabibulin, Craig Anderson, Corey Crawford, Jocelyn Thibault, Brian Boucher, Felix Potvin, and Jean-Sebastien Aubin. His current goalie tandem of Cristobal Huet and Antti Niemi has put together the lowest GAA in the NHL so far this season.
His style preaches efficiency, and his drills focus on perfecting basic movements to stay square with the puck, and mastering dynamic butterfly movements such as rotations, extentions, and center-shifting to increase the efficiency any goalie try to recover for a secondary play.
